I’m looking forward to reading at this year’s Kings Lynn Poetry Festival, especially as Kings Lynn was my old stomping ground as a teenager. We used to regularly bus in from Swaffham to go to the market or the Mart. The Mart started on February 14th, so was a great place to go with a date. Kings Lynn was a favourite for Christmas shopping too, and hot roast chestnuts were a must.
I’m reading on the first evening, Friday 30th September, at 7.30pm. I’m glad about that, as then I can relax and enjoy the rest of the weekend. I’m reading alongside esteemed poets Kit Wright and Lachlan Mackinnon, so it’ll be a great opportunity for me to hear them read. I’m looking forward to hearing the other great poets at the festival too, especially Wendy Cope and Elaine Feinstein.
It’s a very sociable event, with all writers encouraged to stay for the whole festival and attend all the events. It’s an inspiring (though tiring) mix of attentive listening, reading, socialising, chatting, and panel discussions.
You can find out more and book tickets on the Kings Lynn Festival website.
