Library workshops update

Over the past three months we’ve delivered six of the fifteen scheduled Carnegie Trust and Wellcome Trust libraries projects. It’s been a great pleasure working alongside Neil Cooper from the University of East Anglia, Becky Tough from artpocket and SAW Trust on these projects co-ordinated by the Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library.

I’ve enjoyed discovering libraries and groups of enthusiastic participants in Hunstanton, Norwich, Dereham, Thetford and Gorleston so far.

We’ve worked with ‘Time Travellers’ (a reminiscence group), a knitting group, Sixth Form students and members of the general public who signed up to see what ‘A Book by its Cover’ involved.

Each group worked wonderfully well and produced some fantastic book covers and short biographies. It was great fun talking to them about their unique contradictions that made each person so individual. The artwork they produced was very inspired! And their book titles would definitely make me take them off the shelf to discover more.

At the end of the project, during Science Week in Norwich, all the mock books will be on display at The Forum. I’ll post full details of dates and times when they’re available. After this, the books will go on tour around the rural libraries so the participants and their communities can see the project.
